Chelsea, Flushing, Upper West Side

Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays seem to be the best days for openings. I try to go to at least one opening a week.

School of the Future, Saint Columbia

Steve and Fred Weber (who I met at the raw vegan potluck) invited me to their church at School of the Future. Later it moved to St. Columbia on the Westside.

Times Up, Webers, Schnieder and ASL

In February, Times Up: An Environmental Organization hosted a Valentine fundraiser I volunteered to help with. On the 14th, on my way to Housing Court, ASL called and said Michael had said that he did not want me in his class. They said that he said I was dangerous.

2013 Postcard Project in progress.

2012, 301, 215, 23rd, and 24K

January 2012 I was living on the west side. I went to a film festival at Columbia. One of the films was about animal rights and being vegan. That Sunday, Joe from Redeemer invited me to a Raw Vegan Potluck dinner.

Oh What A Night...

what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this
ok...2012...almost half way...sitting here at the library...something seems to be up. Some kind of renovation or shift...many of the books are gone.

Myself...I have been doing good. I may soon have positive cash flow. I love where I live. I have been hanging out with Christians, thinking about 1963...becoming purple, obsequious (sp?) and clairvoyant. Loving my iPhone....and attempting to look at and write about art...mostly so far just looking.

Last week I was at PS1, looking at the Brooklyn Rail. There was an article about Abbie Hoffman with a photo of a young (30's-ish?) Hoffman who looked much like Michael from ASL-so much so, that I started to wonder if he was Michael from ASL. Strangely enough, Stephen Weber said the guest speaker at his church that night was named Michael Pellettieri. The pictures of the older Hoffman don't look like Michael at all. I e-mailed Mitch to see if he was still wanting to work on a film about Hoffman. He wrote back right away and said it was a graphic novel, but yes he was.

Last Thursday, Interfaith Assembly on Homelessness and Housing held an all night vigil/rally/press conference at City Hall. After meeting Stephen's Michael (who wasn't the same Michael, but sounded like a famous radio personality) I walked down to Union Square sat for a minute with the chess players then walked with a guy named (Fernando?), who happened to look like a shorter, darker Marc Greenberg down to City Hall. We arrived around midnight. The Park was closed. Maybe ten (demonstrators?) were camped out in front. Marc Greenberg among them.

So now this week I am thinking about Hoffman, Homelessness and Housing, 1963, heat (and the absence there of).

The Future

The Help

Good to see some of the folks from the tenant's rights movement that I recognized from MetCouncil and Housing Is A Right.

Summer, shelter, stays and storms

what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this

Mid-September and it's getting cold...On August 24th a city Marshall came to my door and informed me I would have to leave the apartment, but my stuff would be held there for 30 days. At the appeals court, someone suggested asking for a stay of the re-letting of the apartment. After two weeks of staying up all night watching movies, riding trains and sitting in diners...I found my way to a women's shelter in the Bronx with help from and thanks to Kristen from Scott Stinger's Office. The shelter is a city intake center and run by the Salvation Army. It's in an old Armory. The people there are mostly nice. However, my case-worker there, Ms. Tavaris, hasn't been very helpful. I have a very limited time to get help with the stay. Otherwise, I will have to move my things to a storage place.

A friend of a friend from 4th U has a lead on an apartment that might work out. Still looking for good roommates to share housing either at 545 or somewhere else. Still feeling righteous about fighting the negligent, harassing, over-charging owners of the 545 W 146th Street. HPD is taking them to court...so that is an optimistic sign. Next court date, September 22...11th floor....111 Center Street.

the sky is falling

what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this

I am feeling alternately good and awful as I am still trying to get over this very bad cold that has moved from my throat to my sinus to my chest then back to my sinus while still kind of hanging out in my chest. Then kind of causing some sort of flu like thing in my head. THis while I am very close to being evicted and needing to take the train downtown to see about making an appeal to Judge Halprin's Marrch 7th Decision that I owe my negligent LL $73, 000.

Oh and the kitchen ceiling collapsed. Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Electricity!

what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this

This is the day after Martin Luther King Day. It's raining outside. I just returned from the gym thinking I should get the laundry together. Then got excited about having a working computer, electricity (con-edison stopped trying to charge me for my ex-roommate's bill) and internet access...so I am cleaning all the old photos from the Nikon Coolpix and putting them on this apple laptop lent by Steven Chiu. I hope he doesn't mind.

In other news, I have combined my roommate search with the search for Art Collective directors. This Is how I met Ana from the Center for Book Arts who has been here for a little over a week and has helped enormously with the rehab.

Au Revoir 2010, Bon Jour 2011

what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this what is this

Sitting here on the futon in the dining room,
listening to the kitchen sink making kind of
pretty, dripping, gurggling, water sounds and
getting ready to head out into the street,
past the McDonalds, and down into the train which
(god willing) will carry me to the gym.

Happy New Year!

May peace and happiness be with you
and your loved ones.
