Antonio Gaudi Architecture Film Club of New York Facebook Page

So...yesterday Facebook reminded me about the Antonio Gaudi Architecture Fan Club of New York and wanted me to post something already. So I started looking around for things related to Antonio Gaudi, architecture and New York. I happend to have a doctor's appointment so I found The sobriety garden at Bellevue Hospital.

This is turning into a lesson in social media, but it started as an idea to get together in person and talk about what is good and what is good architecture. Aligning oneself with Antonio Gaudi may be a bit risky. As amazing as Gaudi is...he has his critics and in an age of glass, steel and concrete...well...whether you are a tutsi or a hutu even Philip Glass might agree that Gaudi's work at the very least, represents good craftsmanship. Am I wrong?

2015 Film Beat

As the new year was being rung in...I found myself at AMC theater about to watch Inherent Vice. So...it seems like 2015 might be a good year for films and literature. In 2013, I watched The Oscars from a women's shelter in Brooklyn and had not seen any or many of the movies. (Now that I think about it, I did see The Great Gatsby and Nebraska.) As we approach the 87th AMPAS Award ceremony, I am happy to report that I HAVE seen Birdman (Or The Unexpected Virture of Ignorance), Boyhood, Selma, Whiplash, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Wild, Guardians of the Galaxy and Inherent Vice...so...my ability to judge has improved a bit.

Last month I had the pleasure of attending AFH (Architecture for Humanity)NY Christmas party as well as Peace Action Manhattan/ Peace Action NY Monthly Forum. I am happy to read about this on-going AFH NYwomen's shelter project. I would like to take a second to thank Volunteers of America and Institute for Community Living for helping me. I would also like to thank my parents for their support.

WSTM (Women's Shelter: The Musical)

The past year has been unusually strange. have been staying with friends and in DHS shelters. Trying to salvage my possessions and live without an apartment or paycheck.I have met so many people. I have a hard time remembering people's names. Everyone looks like someone I have met or seen in film or on television. The gym has become my home. I spend a lot more time on trains and out of doors, in coffee shops, parks and movie theaters. Recently, I started volunteering at Theater for the New City People at All Souls and Coalition for the Homeless and the YMCA have been very helpful. The shelter I am staying at now is much better than the previous shelter, which was much better than the one before that. I am now able to sleep at night and not worried about people stealing my things or assulting me. It is much safer, cleaner, and calmer. Now I hope continue putting my life in order.
