Dan Sutherland was one of my drawing teachers that last year at UT...on one of the last days of his class he brought in several full sheets of plywood for us to paint...collaboratively...many people had made small graffitti-like pictures...I wanted to give it some overall structure by going over things (wet and dry) with water and a paintbrush...in grid-like lines...one of my classmates asked, "Is this a control thing."
