Yesterday I started working on the first step of the NYC History Timeline Large Scale Sculpture. After talking about the idea to Holly at the Urban Center at CCNY, I was convinced that a good way to start would be to walk the length of the proposed site, the D-train.

This is a photo documented performance art piece. This month (December 2008) I will walk the length of the D-lineover the course of several days. In this way I hope to:

a) get a feel for the landscape of the city

b) make some contacts with people who live in communities surrounding the D-line.

So far, I have walked from Coney Island to 55th Street Station near Sunset Park.

The library doesn't seem to want me to upload these images here today, so I'll have to try again elsewhere.

WSTM (Women's Shelter: The Musical)

The past year has been unusually strange. have been staying with friends and in DHS shelters. Trying to salvage my possessions and live without an apartment or paycheck.I have met so many people. I have a hard time remembering people's names. Everyone looks like someone I have met or seen in film or on television. The gym has become my home. I spend a lot more time on trains and out of doors, in coffee shops, parks and movie theaters. Recently, I started volunteering at Theater for the New City People at All Souls and Coalition for the Homeless and the YMCA have been very helpful. The shelter I am staying at now is much better than the previous shelter, which was much better than the one before that. I am now able to sleep at night and not worried about people stealing my things or assulting me. It is much safer, cleaner, and calmer. Now I hope continue putting my life in order.
